DBK’s loan portfolio increased 4,5 times in the last five years

The share of the loan portfolio in the Bank's assets increased to 67% at the end of 2018 from 61% at the end of the previous year. In total during the reporting period, the Bank financed 30 projects in the amount of 443 billion tenge against 31 projects in the amount of 422 billion tenge in 2017. In addition, over the past year, the Bank decided to finance 9 projects in the amount of 225 billion tenge in such industries as energy, metallurgy, transport and logistics, telecommunications. In particular, it is referred to such projects as the construction of a plant for the production of ferrosilicon in Karaganda, "Zhylga" solar power plant with a capacity of 20 MW in Turkestan region, modernization of energy assets of "Eurasian Energy Corporation" JSC in Pavlodar region (17% of electricity generation and 20% of coal production in Kazakhstan), the launch of K-5 emission standard diesel fuel installation on the basis of "Condensate" JSC in West Kazakhstan region (WKR).

In April last year, DBK successfully placed the second issue of Eurobonds denominated in tenge in the amount of 100 billion tenge. Compared to the previous issue of tenge Eurobonds, carried out in December 2017, the Bank has achieved an increase in the terms of borrowing to 5 years from 3 years and a reduction in the coupon rate to 8.95% from 9.5% per annum. In general, the share of budget funds amounted to 16% of 291 billion tenge of funding, raised by DBK last year from various sources. The remaining volume came from the extra-budgetary sources, including borrowings on market terms.

In December 2018, for the first time in its history, DBK supported the export of Kazakhstani services by issuing a guarantee to "AAEngineering Group" LLP in the amount of up to $ 37.8 million for the construction of a gold-processing plant at "Dzheruy", the largest gold field in Kyrgyzstan.

2018 was a period of testing the strength of the entire banking system of Kazakhstan. The volatility of the exchange rate, situation in the commercial partner banks of the DBK under the "Nurly Zhol" Program, introduction of IFRS 9, a new international financial reporting standard – all these factors have experienced the effectiveness of the Bank’s risk management system. As a result: we managed to finish the last year with a positive financial result in difficult conditions,

The consolidated net profit of the Bank in 2018 amounted to 3.2 billion tenge. The DBK’s loan portfolio quality remains at a good level: provisions to the gross loan portfolio did not exceed 4%, the share of non-performing loans at the end of 2018 amounted to 0.5%.

6 projects financed with the participation of DBK were commissioned in 2018, including: complex for the production of railway wheels in Ekibastuz city, transport and logistics center in Shymkent, the first stage of the factory for growing broilers in Akmola region, installation for the production of diesel fuel on the basis of "Condensate" JSC in WKR.

As one of the key operators of the State Program of Industrial and Innovative Development for 2015-2019 (hereinafter - "SPIID") as of December 31 last year, DBK financed 20 large investment projects in the amount of 338.4 billion tenge. Currently, DBK is considering to support 8 projects for a total requested loan amount of up to 452.14 billion tenge, including up to 220.58 billion tenge within the framework of the SPIID.
