The Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK, the Bank) and JSC Taldykorgan Transport and Power Grid Company (TATEK) have signed a credit line agreement totalling KZT 9.16 billion to finance the upgrade of power grid infrastructure in the Zhetysu Region.
The financing will support a set of infrastructure projects implemented under the National Project “Modernisation of the Energy and Utilities Sectors”.
The project covers the reconstruction and upgrade of power grid infrastructure across the Zhetysu Region, including the cities of Taldykorgan, Ushtobe and Sarkand, as well as the Koksu, Karatal, Eskeldy, Kerbulak and Aksu districts.
The scope includes the upgrade of more than 465 km of power transmission lines of various voltage levels, modernisation of cable lines and reconstruction of two key substations.
“Modernising energy infrastructure is fundamental to sustainable regional growth. Projects like this improve the reliability of power supply and create conditions for investment and business development,” said Marat Yelibayev, Chairman of the Management Board of DBK.
The project is expected to improve the reliability of electricity supply, reduce technical losses and support the region’s socio-economic development. It will also contribute to better quality of life and ensure stable power supply for businesses and social facilities.
Construction is scheduled for completion, with full commissioning expected in January 2027.
