The official launch of SCC LLP plant marked the beginning of a qualitatively new stage in Kazakhstani petrochemical industry, as the enterprise significantly increases the depth of oil and gas processing at the modernized Shymkent Oil Refinery (SOR). Now, thanks to the region has its own MTBE production, one of the main oxygen-containing high-octane components used in the production of unleaded motor gasoline, Euro-4 and Euro-5 environmental class fuel is produced here.
“Current environmental and operational requirements for motor gasoline determine the high-quality standards of refinery products. Unique additives such as MTBE, which increase the octane number of gasoline and promote more complete combustion, has a key role to play. With the launch of our plant, Kazakhstan fully covers the needs of domestic market in octane-increasing additives, which is about 80 thous. tons per year and allows the domestic refineries to maintain its competitiveness and create technology for the production of environmentally friendly gasoline of international; standards,”- said General Director of SCC LLP Manat Bibasov.
According to him, SOR is the main consumer of the new plant’s products today. Now all production processes have been set up, a license for petrochemical production has been obtained. The Company is included in the list of industrial consumers of the petrochemical industry of Kazakhstan.
It should be reminded, the construction of plant began in 2019, while designing they used the world-renowned Etherification technology of AXENS French company, which is one of the international leaders with advanced competences in MTBE production.
The construction of the plant, the purchase of equipment was carried out, among other things, at the expense of borrowed funds of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, which has provided financial support of KZT 9 bln. for up to 10 years under the State Program of Industrial and Innovative Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Overall cost of the project totals KZT 13.7 bln., so the balance of KZT 4.7 bln. was invested by SCC LLP from its own resources.
“Commissioning of the plant of Shymkent Chemical Company LLP is a significant event for the region and for the whole country since the enterprise plays a key role in the development of the country’s oil and gas chemical industry. Now Kazakhstan has successfully produced a unique product, which will ensure energy security and maintain the competitiveness of fuel produced in the country,” said Duman Aubakirov, Deputy Chairman of DBK Management Board.
The plant of SCC LLP provided permanent jobs for over 150 Kazakhstan citizens, while about 750 people were engaged in the plant construction.
