Marat Yelibayev, Chairman of the Management Board of Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC (a subsidiary of Baiterek Holding, hereinafter – DBK, the Bank), took part in the XXII meeting of the Council of the Interbank Consortium of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held in Kyrgyzstan.
The Consortium was established in 2005 to organize the financing of investment projects, develop cooperation with authorized financial institutions of SCO observer states and dialogue partners, as well as strengthen cooperation and exchange of experience between leading economic institutions operating within the SCO area. For DBK, participation in the SCO Interbank Consortium is an opportunity to build direct dialogue with development banks and financial institutions of the region, expand its partner network, and discuss practical mechanisms for financing investment, infrastructure and export-oriented projects.
The meeting was held in the city of Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of Eldik Bank OJSC. Participants exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation among member banks within the SCO Interbank Consortium. In his speech, Marat Yelibayev, Chairman of the Management Board of DBK, spoke about the Bank’s key achievements in project financing and the development of the ESG agenda. In addition, as part of the event, the head of DBK held bilateral meetings with the management of China Development Bank, India Infrastructure Finance Company and HBL Bank, Pakistan, to discuss joint investment opportunities. The key outcome of the event was the signing of the SCO Interbank Consortium Development Strategy for 2027–2031 and the Roadmap on Sustainable Finance.
