How DBK Began 2025: Q1 Results and a Focus on Digital Transformation

The Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC held a reporting meeting summarizing the results of the first quarter of 2025. The event was attended by Chairman of the Management Board Marat Yelibaev and the Bank employees. During the meeting, key performance outcomes and plans for the upcoming quarter were presented.

“The first quarter was eventful – filled with both opportunities and challenges. We successfully disbursed 292 billion tenge, covering 9 investment projects and 9 export transactions. This figure nearly doubles our planned targets. We also raised 500 million in eurobonds and implemented a number of significant initiatives. Net profit for the quarter amounted to 40.5 billion tenge. This is the result of our team’s cohesive and professional efforts,” noted Marat Yelibaev.

At the meeting, employees of the DBK’s Client Relations Directorate – Assel Shitenova, Ainur Daribayeva, Nariman Kozhagulov, and Ainel Sharmanova – presented several projects, including the tourist complex in Almaty, the agricultural company Prima Kus specializing in poultry farming, the Astana Motors passenger car manufacturing plant, and the Mineral Product International ferrosilicon production plant. Merey Issenov shared updates on the joint efforts with JSC NC “QazAvtoJol” for the second phase of repairs on national highways, aimed at improving the quality of the country’s transport infrastructure. Tulegen Karenov reported on interim results of the multi-disciplinary hospital construction project in Kokshetau, implemented by RenEll Kokshetau LLP.

DBK also reviewed progress on its digital transformation efforts. Chief Information Officer Sergey Shmagin presented the DBK Product space platform, where artificial intelligence is being used to optimize the first stage of credit application review - the business proposal. Decisions made at this stage play a key role in project selection for financing. Additional developments include AI-powered assistants AI-dos and AI-sha, and a project data warehouse KDB DWH.

HR Manager Saniya Rakhimbekova spoke about the development of corporate culture at the Bank: the adoption of a gender policy, strengthened cooperation with universities, the organization of internal events, and the successful launch of the corporate page on the dbkproteam social network.
